Houston Art Car Parade

Clive, Pattey and I went to the
annual Art Car Parade.
It was soooo hot out today!
The high reached 91.
Despite the heat & humidity we
had a lot of fun.
In the 23 years that I've lived
in and around Houston I've never
been to the Art Car Parade.
The parade is free...just $7 to park downtown.
I normally work on Saturdays...so, it was
a nice treat to go to the parade and hang out
with my husband and sister.

Meet Mr. Morty

Morty is one of the 100 and 1 things that I will miss about Half Price Books. He lives at Half Price Books and he's one of the coolest cats...ever.

I've only worked at Half Price Books for 3 months but I feel like I've been there longer. There's a great group of people working there and I'll miss them. But...

I've been offered a job as Assistant Manager at Charming Charlie. http://charmingcharlie.com/ I'm excited about this opportunity. Charming Charlie is a Houston based company that is expanding to other cities and states. It's a hip place and I think it will be a lot of fun.

I'll keep you posted...

Long Time No See

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a long time.
Honestly, my life at the moment has been very dull...
Not that dull is bad,
I just haven't really done anything worth posting.
I found a job at Half Price Books.
I enjoy working with books again, the company is awesome
and my co-workers are super cool.
Above is a picture that sums up what life has been like lately.
Clive and Desi falling asleep in front of the laptop. Haha.
Hope things are more interesting and lively in
your part of the world.

TV Lied

TV lied to me! Television and I have been friends for as long as I can remember...why would it lie to me like that? I haven't been able to find work in retail so I took a job as a waitress. But being a waitress was nothing like what TV had led me to believe. There was no Mel, the gruff but loveable boss. There was no Flo saying "kiss my grits!" No simple but sweet Vera. Ok, there were a lot of struggling, single mothers...but not one of them was named Alice. I hate TV for filling my head with such lies! But TV knows I'll come back to it...I always forgive TV...we have a dysfunctional relationship, I know.

P.S. I quit the waitress gig...I couldn't take it. Love and much respect to those of you out there that are servers...you're made of stronger stuff than me.

China Dreamin' On Such A Winter's Day

Clive is busy making plans to visit home in February.
He's excited to see his family & eat his favorite foods.
I wish I could go too...but we can't afford it.
It's hard to believe it was over 2 years ago
that I went on my 2nd China trip...
It seems like 2 months ago.
Above is one of my favorite pics
from my 1st trip.
On that boat with Clive and the lady
showing us around it all felt so wonderful & perfect...
And even if I go back to Yangshuo and take
another boat ride on the Li River
I'll never recapture that one moment in time.
But that's ok...because that's what makes that
one moment so special...

Punk Rock Poodle

This past August I had Desi's groomer give him a mohawk.
Clive didn't like it...I thought Desi looked cute.
What do you think?

Desi Takes A Leap...Into Clear Creek

Clive & I took Desi to Walter Hall Park in League City.
Clear Creek runs along the side of the park.
Today was a beautiful Sunday, it was around 75 & sunny out.
Not bad for January...
but our Summer's are miserable!
We let Desi run off leash, which is something I hardly ever do.
Clive want's Desi to have some freedom but
it makes me nervous...I don't want him to get hurt.
But there weren't many people around and we
were not near any streets so I thought it would be ok.
Desi loved it! He ran down the path,
straight to the water...and jumped in!
Thankfully Clive grab his leash so he wouldn't swim off.
I was laughing so hard I almost forgot
that I had my camera with me.
We plan on taking Desi to Galveston soon
to see how he likes the water there...

Desi & Friend

I hate using a flash to take a picture, but it's sometimes hard to get a good picture without it. This one of Desi on my bed came out pretty good. The picture was taken at 3am. Now that I am not working I tend to stay up super late. Desi doesn't mind...he just snuggles up with his little stuffed friend.

Where Can I Go For My Free Coffee & Doughnuts?!

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a long time.
Looking for work has been a full-time job.
I've submitted more than 30 applications
in the last week and haven't had much response...
Fingers crossed...I'll find something soon.
On a positive note,
Desi likes the fact that
we are spending more time together.

Love & Peace in 2009

I woke up this morning...turned on the news...
so much sadness and tragedy in the world.
I'm happy that within my apartment there is love and peace
between the people that live in it.
I know that my apartment is not the world...
Anyway, here are a few pics of my husband and Desi taking it easy.
These pics make me feel safe and happy in an uncertain world.
Hope life is safe and happy where you are....
